Liberty is a microcosm of diverse families who want their children to receive a superb academic foundation but one that is uncommonly focused on teaching students “how to learn and think for themselves” rather than simply focusing on content and “teaching to the test.”
A classical education at Liberty provides students in preschool through 12th grade with a cohesive framework for learning and viewing the world. The chants, songs and rhymes of the Grammar Stage help the students happily absorb the basics of each subject area. The compare/contrast exercises, writing and debates of the Logic Stage help the middle school students develop a deep understanding of each subject. The analysis/ synthesis, discussion, writing, and speaking exercises of the Rhetoric Stage enable the high school students to master the various topics, form their own reasoned opinions and learn to effectively communicate those thoughts and opinions through both the written and spoken word. Liberty is producing students who are able to think, learn, reason and communicate!
At Liberty, we don’t stop with educating the mind. A Classical and Christian education addresses both the mind and the soul. For too long, American education has neglected the soul. Now, we wonder why gun violence, drug use, sexual crimes and cheating in school has become so common. At Liberty, while we instruct students about all faith backgrounds in order for them to better understand other perspectives and viewpoints, we instill in students a Judeo-Christian viewpoint throughout all their coursework. We believe that the Christian faith answers all of the deep questions of life, “Who am I? Where did I come from? Why am I here?” in a meaningful way. It is through our integration of the Christian worldview in all of our teaching, that we are able to help students develop compassion and respect for their fellow-man, accountability for their actions, a desire to find their gifts/talents and use them for God’s glory, and a willingness to serve others before themselves. This is genuinely educating the soul.
With students performing at the top levels of standardized tests and college entrance exams such as ACT and SAT and seeing them demonstrate compassion and service towards their fellow- humanity, it’s obvious that Liberty Classical Academy is building moral leaders for tomorrow.
