20 Years of Courageous Leadership

In the middle and upper school years, Liberty Classical Academy students are divided into groups via a house system. There are girls' houses and boys' houses and these groups serve as a constant for comradery, competition, and fellowship led by the same Liberty teacher throughout their middle and upper school careers. Each year, the houses engage in different competitive challenges in order to collect points. At the end of the year, one house WINS! As the students move up in their house by grade, the team spirit and leadership skills developed are beautiful to witness.

Recently, a group of Liberty dads were invited to take part in a boys' house competition at our White Bear campus. These dads were reporting to the school parking lot with a very specific task to accomplish. They were helping their sons and other Liberty boys compete to see which house could start the best fire. For this quest, the boys had to work together to see who could start a fire the fastest and keep it burning the longest. This was an activity geared toward boys that equipped them with practical wisdom and enriched them with a meaningful and memorable experience.

One of our core values, Courageous Leadership, expresses itself in a wide range of ways at Liberty. It's something we work hard to reflect in the work we do, and it's something we instill in each student we teach. It is built into our Liberty culture, and we empower our students to embody it in their daily lives. Courage isn't always displayed through climactic events and dramatic moments. Sometimes it's shown through a simple, quiet resolve; through a steadiness in character and values that points to what's true and what's important. It can be as simple as a fire we start.

We're grateful for 20 years of courageous leadership at Liberty Classical Academy. And we're excited for what's to come. While not every display of courageous leadership comes with banners and bullhorns, they are all rooted in character. As the world around us is tempted to cave, we remain steadfast in our commitment to truth, courageously leading, and to things as simple as competition and team spirit.
