What Will Phase II Mean for Liberty Classical Academy?
When determining Phase II, we knew that it would be best for Liberty Classical Academy as a whole to provide upgraded facilities for our Upper School first and foremost. We are overjoyed to announce that as soon as the class of 2026, Liberty Classical Academy seniors will graduate from a new facility located on our Hugo campus.
Phase II will bring an addition to the existing school that will revolutionize Liberty’s facilities and provide a significantly upgraded high school experience. With a private parking lot and a separate, secure front entry, this upper school space will provide a dedicated 33,000 square feet for our upper schoolers to call home. The space will include a multipurpose lobby, three fully-equipped 1200-square-foot science labs, and a varsity-size gym complete with hundreds of bleachers and concessions. Our athletes will also have a 1000-square-foot weight room and locker rooms. There will be light-filled band and choir rooms that will overlook the new soccer field beyond. Our Preschool through 2nd grade program will also benefit from a new blacktop with a basketball court and four-square court, along with more green space to accompany the new playground purchased in Phase I.
Our 3rd through 8th grade program will enjoy a much more spacious and revitalized WBL campus. The Middle School will move into the current Upper School wing where they will enjoy two science labs, bigger lockers, and the gymnasium as their own. Third through fifth grade will spread out into the 200 wing and the remaining admin, learning specialists, and specialty teachers will have room to spare. Also, the WBL teachers will enjoy a new light-filled lounge in the 300 wing! The WBL facility was designed as a K-8 building, so by giving the Upper School the new and upgraded home it deserves, our White Bear campus will in turn be used more appropriately and to its full potential for our 3rd-8th graders.
The plan for Phase II benefits every student!
Long-term Vision
Liberty has developed a long-term master plan on our 80+ acres to expand on the existing Hugo campus building. The complete campus will include a relocated, grand entrance drive off of 122nd Street leading to the Liberty Commons complex, with a Chapel in the rear. Athletic fields will be added in front of and beside the Commons. The site plan is anchored by three distinct classroom wings; a formation designed to lend itself to a phased method for construction that allows various divisions of the school to seamlessly transition from one wing to another until each is eventually settled in its permanent location on a fully completed Hugo campus. Over the next many years, pieces of this plan will be completed one at a time, as fundraising allows.
