Academic Honesty Policy

Academic Dishonesty is defined as the following:

A. Using another student’s homework, test, quiz, project, or workbook as one’s own work.

B. Altering or filling in information during the grading process to make corrections, whether it concerns the student’s own paper or someone else’s.

C. Obtaining or providing test or quiz questions or information in advance through unauthorized means.

D. Giving information either orally, electronically, or by intentionally allowing another student to copy their material.

E. Receiving assessment or assignment answers either audibly, by copying from another student, by looking at any source containing information, or by any other means, except with direct permission from the teacher who is   giving the assessment or assignment.

F. Possession of any unauthorized materials during an assessment or assignment.

G. Plagiarism: knowingly submitting work as your own that in actuality was either fully or partially produced by another source, including individuals, the Internet, books, artificial intelligence or any verbal or printed word. For guidance on how to properly cite a source, the student should refer to the required MLA handbook.

If academic dishonesty is suspected, the student will meet with the division director. If academic dishonesty is determined to have occurred, the student(s) will receive a zero for the assignment in which academic dishonesty was committed. The student’s parents will be contacted and given the details of the visit.
