A Thank You to the Liberty Community

Dear Liberty community,

Incredible!  That is the word that comes to mind. These last three days of the MSHSL Boys Basketball State Tournament were some of the best in Liberty Classical Academy’s history!  It was our first full team state showing—and not only did our team show up and earn 5th place by winning the Consolation Championship—but our whole school showed up!

When I walked into the Target Center Thursday with some of my own children and grandchildren, not only did I run into many families on the way in from Liberty, but I was completely elated when I entered the sections designated for our school and found they were nearly full!! Our families and staff from both campuses came out in force to cheer our Lions on to victory!  We had many alumni and former Liberty families cheering them on, as well!  The student section was full of spirit wear, face paint (thank you Linsday Zweber et all), posters, and cheering!

Thursday began with a pep rally at Hugo where the children met the basketball players and coaches and saw Leo the Lion!  This was followed by another pep rally at the White Bear Lake campus in the afternoon before the players left for the Target Center. They even gathered in a huddle at the beginning of the WBL pep rally and with their arms in the air, sang the Doxology!  What a powerful witness!  The video is below. That same vision was how the entire tournament ended….but this time after the Lions had roared back and earned two victories to clinch the Consolation Championship with an early morning win on Saturday against a former state championship team from southern MN. They battled mightily, even with one starting player out from an injury in the first 10 minutes of the first game! Throughout, our players and coaches gave all the glory to God!
