1000 Point Milestone for Three Liberty Lions

The 1,000 point milestone for a high school basketball player is an achievement to be highly celebrated. Now take that celebration and multiply it by three! In January and February of this year, three Liberty Lions accomplished this ultimate goal. Senior Olivia Louis (avg. 22 points/game) and juniors Ethan Richter (avg. 21 points/game) and Sam Rupnow (avg. 27.6 points/game) have made history at Liberty Classical Academy.

Reaching this milestone is not done by accident. Athletes who score 1000 career points have committed countless hours to improve their skill, diligently avoided and/or healed from injuries, and showed unmatched tenacity and dedication. “It’s amazing to have one 1,000 point milestone in a year. The fact that we had three at once is almost unheard of,” says John Towle, coach of Liberty’s varsity boys basketball team.

Varsity Boys’ Basketball finished their season having advanced all the way to the 4A Section Tournament championship game. The Lions came in 2nd place, falling one win short of the state tournament. The team went 23-3 during the regular seasons, was named Regular Season Conference (EMAC) Co-Champion, won the EMAC Tournament against #1-seeded Avail Academy; and earned the #1 seed in the section for the first time in school history heading into the playoffs. Varsity Girls’ Basketball also finished with a great record of 16-8, were named Regular Season Conference (EMAC) champions, and also won the EMAC Tournament.

Liberty Athletic Director Dave St. Martin says, "We are incredibly proud of the hard work our varsity girls and boys basketball athletes have displayed this season. Oliva, Ethan, and Sam have also worked diligently to reach these exciting milestones, and their effort and talent will take them far!"
