Parent/Teacher Communication Policy

Objective:  Because children’s success in school is directly related to parental or guardian involvement in his/her education, Liberty Classical Academy encourages and supports interaction between the home and the school.

Scope: All Liberty Classical Academy families

GUIDELINES

TEACHER COMMUNICATION

1. Direct personal communication between parents and teachers is encouraged.

2. Whenever possible, parents should first direct questions to the teacher rather than the Headmaster or other staff.

3. Messages for teachers may be left in the school office. Please keep in mind that in general, teachers are not immediately available but will call you back as promptly as possible.

DAILY HOMEWORK ASSIGNMENT SHEET (GRADES K-5)

1. Comments from the day are recorded along with any homework assignments.

2. Parents should check the student’s work and initial the sheet each night, indicating that the student has completed the required work. Students must receive 90% of their signatures to be eligible for non-uniform days.

3. Weekly Classroom Updates highlighting events in the classroom will be provided in a format and scheduled at the teacher’s discretion.

DAILY HOMEWORK ASSIGNMENT NOTEBOOK (GRADES 6-12)

1. Every 6-10th grade student is required to record homework assignments for each class in their school provided assignment notebook and secure the teacher’s signature, which indicates that the student correctly understands the assignment.

2. Parents should check the student’s work and initial the notebook each night, indicating that the student has completed the required work. 6-10th grade students must receive 90% of their signatures to be eligible for non-uniform day.

3. Juniors and seniors are not required to get signatures, but are expected to use some type of organizational planner to maintain a high level of homework organization on a daily basis. Junior and seniors with no missing assignments at quarter end will be eligible for non-uniform day.

LOWER SCHOOL REPORTING TOOLS AND CONFERENCES

1. Parents of students in grades K-5 will be notified if their student receives a score below 70% on any given test or if he/she is missing any assignments in any given class.

2. Mid-Quarter Reports are emailed to all students in grades 4-12. Mid-Quarter Reports are printed and sent home with students in grades K-3.

3. Report Cards are generated for all students after each school quarter.

4. Conferences are scheduled and held after 1st quarter and during 3rd quarter.

5. Parents/Guardians are encouraged to schedule individual conferences with teachers at any other time.

MIDDLE/UPPER SCHOOL REPORTING TOOLS & CONFERENCES

1. Parents of students in grades 6-12 will be notified if their student receives a score below 70% on any given test.
