Tardy Policy

 

Objective: To ensure all students are working to their highest potential in each class.

Scope: All students in grades K through 12

GUIDELINES:

The Assistant Headmaster will stand and greet students each morning at the security doors at the White Bear Lake campus from 7:50–8:00 am. The doors will be locked daily at 8:05 am and tardy slips given to students arriving after that time.

LOWER SHCOOL (K–5) TARDY POLICY

Students are considered tardy if they are not in their classrooms ready to go to Salve Deus.

After 3 tardies per quarter, the teacher will discuss the situation with the parents.

MIDDLE/UPPER SHCOOL (6–12) TARDY POLICY

This policy pertains to any student not in his/her desk for a given class at the designed start time. This includes house and assembly.

Students must have their materials in their 1st-hour classroom before assembly.

Classroom teachers will record each incidence of tardiness in FACTS and give copies of the tardy slip to the main office. The total number of times a student is tardy will be reported to parents/guardians on quarterly grade reports.

Penalties for unexcused tardies will be served each quarter at a pre-arranged Saturday morning (beginning at 8:00 am)  Service/work time will be supervised by staff.

The penalties will be assigned as follows:

1-2 Infractions: Warning from the school office

3-4 Infractions: 30 minutes of service/work time

5-6 Infractions: 1 hour of service/work time

7-8 Infractions: 2 hours of service/work time

9 or more Infractions: 2 hours of service/work time + a mandatory parent/student meeting with the MUS Director *Service may include, but is not limited to, cleaning or repair of the school building.

Failure to report for service will result in a $100 fine unless there is a family emergency or alternate arrangements are made in advance. Late arrivals/early departures will be prorated.
