Even though this year hasn’t been like any we’ve experienced, we realize that homecoming is a time that we celebrate both where we’ve come from and where we’re going. It’s where we get to see our current students create great memories and our past students share their stories.  We reflect on God’s goodness that brought us to where we are and his faithfulness that will take us forward.

Honoring Those Who Helped Us Get Here

We wouldn’t be where we are today without people who believed in us. Our team in the early days worked generously and tirelessly to “get this thing off the ground.” They worked early mornings and late nights. They moved boxes, arranged furniture, hauled books, transformed classrooms, made calls, recruited students, taught classes, built curriculum, networked, and supported. They gave. They prayed.

We have a long list of people to thank. Too long. Some are still here working to build lives that inspire. Some of them have moved on to new seasons of life. Some of them have passed away. All of them have left a legacy. The people in our early days wore every hat imaginable to keep things moving forward. And because of that, we are where we are. And we’re thankful!

Celebrating our Alumni

Some of our alumni have moved across the country; some across town. They’ve started graduate programs, businesses, careers, and families. They have stories of where they’ve been and dreams of where they’d like to go next. They’ve entered just about every industry and have carried their experiences from Liberty with them.

We have a long list of alumni. Every once-in-a-while, we will share a story of one of them in our blog. When we catch up with them, we get their story and hear their perspectives on the world. By far, one of the most consistent messages we get in these conversations is one of gratitude. We hear them talk about how thankful they are for an education that prepared them for the world. We hear them be thankful to their parents and grandparents and even to the scholarship fund that made it possible.

Reflecting on God’s Goodness

It’s easy, especially in a year like 2020 — and in a world full of division, fear, and hostility — to forget about the many, many things we have to be thankful for. Where would we be without God’s goodness in our lives? At Liberty, we can look back and trace nearly two decades of divine intervention, of godly, hardworking team members, of dedicated, teachable students, of generous donors and engaged grandparents. We look back at the people who took the risk in our first years and chose to trust us to educate their children. We look back at all of this and see the fingerprints of God.

Facing Forward

With each year that passes, our list of alumni grows, along with the volume of stories about lives that inspire. The dynamics at school shift with students moving in and out of classrooms, and faculty and staff stepping into new roles. Our graduates move on to pursue their next journey.

But even though it always looks a little different, our purpose remains unchanged. We're committed to the next generation. We are here to point people to the beautiful life that we know God has created for them. We are here to build good-thinking, hard-working, book-reading, thought-provoking, God-fearing, soul-refreshing graduates who impact our culture for Christ.
