Fall Athletics at Liberty Classical Academy ! ! !

July 18, 2012

Last year, Liberty teams made a big splash in their first year in the Eastern Minnesota Athletic Conference (EMAC) by winning the soccer and volleyball titles, and finishing second in boys’ basketball and third in girls’ basketball!  The Lions had 11 all-conference players and 8 all-academic players.Lion Head Liberty This year, baseball and softball will be added to the conference schedule as well!  The volleyball, boys’ basketball, and girls’ basketball teams all won Minnesota State High School League Section playoff games.  The soccer team also had a very impressive showing in sections, taking Mounds Park Academy, who had gone to the state tournament the previous year as the #4 ranked team in the state, to a shootout!

As we head into our 10th year as a school, LCA offers the following athletics opportunities: soccer, volleyball, boys’ basketball, girls’ basketball, baseball, softball, golf, and track.  We are also working on a cooperative high school football team with New Life Academy/Bethany Academy/St. Croix Preparatory Academy to possibly begin this fall.  We are still waiting on approval from their new football conference, however.  We will announce updates as they happen!

The fall athletics season is almost here!  The first official day of varsity volleyball and varsity soccer practice is August 13th.  Mr. Mark Harris returns to head up the varsity volleyball program, while Mr. John Shaw begins his first year as head coach of the varsity soccer team.  Lower/middle school practice will most likely begin the first week of school.

The following items must be submitted to the school office before a student may practice:  a MSHSL Athletic Eligibility Brochure (varsity teams), the athletic participation fee ($200 for varsity teams, $150 for lower/middle school teams), and a copy of a recent (within the past three years) physical for students in 7th grade and higher.  A student may not practice – but should still attend and observe – until all required documentation has been submitted to the school office.  You may visit our new school website at www.libertyclassicalacademy.org for copies of the athletic eligibility brochure and physical forms.

Please contact me if your student is interested in participating or if you have any questions.  I look forward to another great year of athletics at Liberty Classical Academy!

Thank you,

David St. Martin
